Call for entries for Grierson 2012

The Grierson Trust launches its annual call for entries to the UK’s most prestigious awards in documentary film making: Grierson 2012 – The British Documentary Awards. Founded in 1972, this year marks the 40th anniversary of The Griersons which will be presented at a star-studded gala ceremony at the Empire, Leicester Square in the autumn and later broadcast on Sky Arts HD.

New training programme announced

First Light and The Grierson Trust are working in partnership to offer free places to a diverse range of 18 – 25 year olds to attend a specially formulated training course that will concentrate on documentary filmmaking for new entrants.

Two New Trustees Join the Board

Hosted by presenter and cultural commentator, Mariella Frostrup, the star-studded awards ceremony took place tonight at the BFI Southbank where the great and good of the documentary world came together to celebrate another outstanding year of film-making.

Mariella Frostrup to host Grierson 2011

The Grierson Trust is proud to announce that the celebrated broadcaster and cultural commentator Mariella Frostrup will host Grierson 2011: The British Documentary Awards in association with Sky Arts HD and Honda. The star-studded ceremony at BFI Southbank will crown the nation’s most illustrious documentary film makers in the 39th annual Grierson Awards on Tuesday 1st November.

Shortlist announced for 55th BFI London film festival

The 55th BFI London Film Festival has announced the shortlist and jury for 2011 Festival Awards including The Grierson Award for Best Documentary. The Awards will take place at LSO St Luke’s on 26 October.
