The Grierson Trust appoints Grant Thornton's Liz Brion to its Board
London 11th September 2014: The Grierson Trust welcomes Liz Brion to its Board of Trustees, following the departure of Terry Back and Emma Hindley whose duration of tenure has come to an end.
Chairman of the Board, Lorraine Heggessey says, "I'm delighted to welcome Liz as the newest member to The Grierson Trust Board. Her financial insight and industry expertise will be hugely valued by us all as we work together in championing documentary filmmaking and ensuring its future through the Trust's education and mentoring work."
Liz heads Grant Thornton's UK tax service to media clients, dealing with advisory and compliance work for entrepreneurial and listed companies. Liz has been closely involved with the development of the new tax credits for High-End TV and Animation and the tax status of people working in the TV industry, working with the main UK trade bodies in consultation with HMRC. Her experience also includes finance and tax support for not for profit organisations and educational charities.
Liz joins Judith Chan, Jo Clinton-Davis, Alex Cooke, Emma Cooper, Briony Hanson, David DeHaney, Liesel Evans, Chris Harris, Christopher Hird, Morgan Matthews, Tom McDonald, Sanjay Singhal, Celia Taylor and Andy Whittaker.
The Grierson Trust, which was first established in 1972 as the Grierson Memorial Trust upon the death of Scottish film-maker John Grierson, promotes and celebrates documentary film and television production through supporting screenings, workshops and mentoring schemes, and recognises the best of documentary-making through its annual Grierson British Documentary Awards.
